Presentation Sept. 21 About the upcoming G-20 Demonstrations in Pittsburgh

Author Chad Kister will offer a free presentation on Monday, September 21 at

5:30 p.m. At the Friends of the Library Room, Alden Library Third Floor Room 319, on the Ohio University Campus about the environmental, social justice and human rights problems of the G-20, and what we can do to make a difference.

Kister will also explain some of the logistics for getting to the upcoming demonstration in Pittsburgh, and what to expect. Even if you can't make it to the September 24-25 demonstrations, you can find out the latest and help in other ways, such as putting up fliers. You can find fliers, posters and a lot of other materials at www.resistG20.org. Just print them out and put them up.

"Be a part of this exciting mass movement for social and environmental change," Kister said. "Work to keep our jobs and environmental laws here in America, rather than shipping off our jobs and enslaving us to the pollution of international corruption as G-20 leaders find ways to undermine our environmental laws."

People can reserve housing other than the mass housing that organizers are working on, or if you know people in the Pittsburgh area that can help, go to www.resistG20.org.

Some of the most important decisions on the world are made at these meetings, where there is no transparency, and no democracy. These decisions are then passed as trade agreements, which over-rule laws past by Congress, effectively taking power from the citizens of America.

The reason that we are in such an economic and environmental crisis is largely because of the past trade agreements, which have lifted tariffs that had protected both our jobs and environment.
